Welcome to 1997. Biggie’s “Sky’s The Limit” is my favorite song and I’m saving up for a new Impala SS! What is YOUR favorite car and song from 1997? Is it the Supra? Another of Biggie’s songs?
*Welcome to Throwback Thursday, a shitpost where you comment with your favorite song and car from a year of my choice. In case you were wondering, this only takes place on Thursdays.*

I don’t think I really have either.
I mean, I guess, if I had to pick just one favorite car, it would probably be a Model J Murphy Dual Cowl Phaeton. I’m way too eclectic with music to even come close to narrowing down a favorite song.

Tangent: in Hypnotize, Biggie raps about the Lexus LX:
On the Lexus, LX, four and a half
Bulletproof glass tints if I want some ass
I try to refer to ours as the Four and a Half but most people don’t get the reference. I figure that if Christopher George Latore Wallace went to the effort to mention your ride you should address it as so.

“Sly” by Massive Attack and something teal. The features I like aren’t even standard on every car in 2018, let alone 1997.

I’m probably wearing out a cassette of David Bowie’s Earthling , Blur’s Blur, or Daft Punk’s Homework.

1997 Integra Type-R. Tough call between this and the same-year 911 turbo . Integra wins because I can push the hell out of it (and I’m saving the 911 for when you pick 1996)
Song:
My favorite Japanese alt band. Loud, rough, and sharp like the Integra.

I was 7 at this the time. I don’t know what my favorite song was but Probably Killer Queen by Queen, or the Rescue Ranger’s theme song.
I also want into cars yet, I hadn’t even played Grand Turism, or GTA yet. But my favorite car would have been my Dad’s 83 Ram. It was a beast, in mult color spray paint, it smelt like a lawn mower and my eyes it was an unstoppable force. It had the slant 6, which sounded cooler than it was, and had a 4 speed manual trans, that actually had 5 speeds because it had a low granny gear.

I’d be in my brand new ’98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited listening to Bro Hymn.

Update: let’s get more realistic, price point wise. 1997 Jersey Ben would have probably gone for the cheaper “sporty” TSi model with the 4.0 inline 6, but I would be sad that I couldn’t afford the 5.2 Magnum model. I’d pick the TSi due to the AMG-style wheels, upgraded sound system, and random blurple stipe. My friends and I would always take “the Heep” over their cars due to the roominess and Jeep name having extra cool points. It would have a sun roof, and the back quarter windows would have all sorts of period skate/surf stickers. In the center console I’d have on cassette: 1) 40oz to Freedom 2) Doggystyle 3) the newly-released Prime Cuts compilation 4) Punk in Drublic 5) ...And Out Come the Wolves.

The Impala was never produced in ‘97. 1994-96 only.

I am 18, turning 19. I want James Bond’s Aston Martin Volante from The Living Daylights so bad (I have just entered James Bond fandom.) My favorite song to listen to in the car (an ‘80 Celica...basically ImmoralMinority’s car without the softtop) is DCTalk’s Red Letters, but most of the time, I’m listening to David Shifrin’s recording of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto all of the time because music school.
Aston Martin Mustang is best Mustang.

FUCK. I was thinking of my dad’s dream garage again and looked this up with a 97 and it still came up.

you would have had plenty of time to save up, as the Impala SS was discontinued in 1996 and wouldn’t return until 2004 (standard Impala returned in 2000)

It’s an awesome enough car to bend rules for.
